The Historic Town of Lewes

Lewes is a small market town in the South of England, 8 miles (12 kilometres) from the lively seaside resort of Brighton and 65 minutes from London by train.

Close to Gatwick Airport and the Port of Newhaven, Lewes is within easy reach of Heathrow Airport, the Channel Tunnel  and the Dover Ports.

The County Town of East Sussex, Lewes has an 11th century castle and many attractive historic buildings.  Noted for its charm and friendliness, it is an ideal place to learn English and to experience the British way of life.

Friendly pubs, good restaurants, interesting antique shops, an arts centre and museums are all available in Lewes, where there are several arts festivals each year, including an international guitar festival in the summer.

There is  a well-equipped sports centre, an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool,  tennis courts and a golf course, and it is a very good area for walking and riding.

Surrounded by green hills, Lewes is only a few miles from the sea and set in beautiful English countryside.  It makes a perfect base from which to explore South East England.
